Getting to Southeast Portlandia

  1. Cross the Sellwood Bridge, heading east. From I‑5 north or south, take the Macadam Avenue exit and follow the signs for the Sellwood Bridge.
  2. Turn left at the first light after the bridge, onto SE 6th Avenue. It comes up quickly. Get in the left lane as you come off the span.
  3. Turn left onto SE Spokane Street. A short block up 6th.
  4. Follow Spokane down the hill and over the railroad tracks. The road narrows and the neighborhood thins out.
  5. Turn right onto Oaks Park Way. A winding road along the river with trees on both sides.
  6. Park, then walk in and follow signs for the Dance Pavilion. It’s the long historic ballroom at the north end of the park, near the river.  🌲 🌳

The nearest stop is about a mile’s walk, and weekend service out here is sparse. Check the TriMet trip planner if you want to try anyway.

The Springwater Corridor runs right past the park, straight down from OMSI along the river. Bike racks are near the roller rink. Bring a lock. 🔐🍃

Thirty to forty minutes by car, depending on how the Marquam Bridge feels that day.

Once you’re through the gate 🎢

The walk through the amusement park to the Pavilion is short & flat, but it’s outdoors, over pavement and packed gravel. Heels are welcome; a second pair of shoes is a kindness to your feet.

A pair of dancing shoes is highly encouraged.  💃 🪩 🕺

You’ll pass the bustling midway on the way in, so expect a carousel and a certain amount of noise. 🎡
